2026 - June: Community Library Notes: The People Who Are Shaping Our Lives.

6/2/2026

In this month's Community Library Notes, MCL Board member and volunteer Adron Harris shares his thoughts about the promises and perils of new technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI). After reading several books on the subject, Harris notes that with the possible exception of Elon Musk and a couple other villains, we don’t hear much about the fascinating individuals who are creating these innovations. Biographies are an approachable and even entertaining window onto new technologies, and the Mendocino Community Library has a nice collection of them. Many of the people are actually pleasant to read about.  To read his insightful article click the button below.

Outstanding In Its Field

4/1/2026

By: Severine V. T. Welcome.
The Mendocino Community Library has received donation of a complete set of the “New Farmers Almanac,” Volumes 1-7. The almanac is a literary miscellany in the form of a monthly calendar, written by farmers across the U.S. Published since 2019, the almanacs are the work of Greenhorns, a young farmers organization based in Maine and led since 2008 by me, a relatively new Mendocino resident. Each 300 page volume contains essays, creative nonfiction, poems, archival material, and contemporary artwork that take us through the year.  To read the full article about this calendar, click the link below.
